Spencer Savings Bank Supports Local Organization, Eva's Village, in the Fight Against Poverty

Spencer Savings Bank showed its support for Eva's Village, a non-profit social services organization in Paterson, N.J. dedicated to changing the lives of the hungry, homeless and addicted, as a team of six Spencer Savings Bank employees spent the afternoon on December 22, 2011, volunteering in the organization's soup kitchen.

Spencer Savings Bank's Annual Toy Drive Brings Joy to Local Communities

Spencer Savings Bank collected more than 400 toys this holiday season through its successful annual Toy Drive to benefit St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital, and Eva's Village. The toys were collected in all branch locations throughout Bergen, Essex, Passaic, and Union counties, as well as at the bank's corporate headquarters. The "Spencer Santa," along with his elves, visited each hospital on Monday, December 19, 2011, spreading cheer and handing out the donated gifts.

Spencer Savings Bank Hosts a Thanksgiving Food Drive and Collects Over 1,500 Pounds of Food

Spencer Savings Bank, a mutually owned community savings bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., held a food drive for Thanksgiving throughout its 19 branches and corporate headquarters, collecting over 1,500 pounds of food. Items were dropped off by branch customers and employees, all of which were donated to the Garfield Loaves & Fishes, Community Food Bank of New Jersey and Eva's Village. It was another successful year of teamwork in our community to help our less fortunate neighbors.

Saddle Brook Shred It Day

Spencer Savings Bank hosted a Shred It Day on October 29th in the Saddle Brook Branch for local residents. Although they faced an unexpected October snowfall, people still came out to shred their personal documents and information. With identity theft still on the rise, Spencer was pleased to provide this free service for the Saddle Brook community.

Spencer Savings Bank Donates $25,000 to Red Cross to Benefit Local Hurricane Irene Victims

Spencer Savings Bank Raises over $8,000 for the MDA Summer Camp

Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, recently raised over $8,000 this past August for the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) during its annual corporate fundraiser. The money raised sent 8 children to the MDA's week-long summer camp program. Spencer employees attended the camp for a day, a very rewarding experience for all involved!

Spencer Savings Bank Partners with the Garfield YMCA to Host "Movies Under the Stars"

Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, co-sponsored "Movies Under the Stars", along with the Garfield YMCA, on Saturday, July 30th at the Spring Street Field. The feature film was "Despicable Me" which drew a crowd of more than 400 people. Volunteers from both organizations spent the night making freshly popped popcorn, serving pizza and Italian ices and distributing raffle tickets to the crowd. It was a gorgeous night and perfect for watching a movie under the stars!

Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, co-sponsored "Movies Under the Stars", along with the Wallington Lions Club & the Wallington Little League, on Saturday, June 18th at the Little League field. The feature film was "Despicable Me", drawing a crowd of over 500 people. Volunteers from all three organizations spent the night making freshly popped popcorn and serving milkshakes and refreshments, along with a variety of other food items. The rain held out for another successful night of movies under the stars!

Spencer Savings Bank Grants More Than $20,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

Spencer Savings Bank awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships this year to 27 high school and middle school students through its annual scholarship program established to aid local youth in their pursuit of higher education. Each high school student was awarded $1,000 and each middle school student a $500 Coverdell Education Savings Account (CESA).
