ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (May 2, 2008) – Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, today announced that it has donated $5,000 to become the Event Sponsor for the American Cancer Society’s 2008 Relay For Life. The event will be held on June 6th at the 20th Century Park in Garfield.
Spencer employees will be raising money for the event through various fundraisers at the Bank’s local branch locations.The Relay For Life is an overnight community event where volunteers and their teams camp out, walk in hourly laps, participate in activities and raise funds to fight cancer. As day turns to night, participants will light hundreds of luminaria bags around the track in an inspiring ceremony to honor cancer survivors.
The Relay For Life event represents hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.“Spencer Savings Bank is proud to sponsor the Relay For Life event again this year,” said José B. Guerrero, Chairman, President and CEO of Spencer Savings Bank. “Last year, Spencer raised more than $11,000 for this worthy cause and we will strive to exceed it at this year’s Relay For Life.”
