SPENCER SAVINGS BANK ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND EDUCATION SAVINGS ACCOUNTS
ELMWOOD PARK, NJ (July 21, 2008) – Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, has awarded $20,500 in scholarships to outstanding graduating high school and middle school students for 2008. Scholarships were awarded in every town across Spencers’ branch footprint. Criteria used to select the winners included the maintenance of an outstanding GPA, a history of community involvement, leadership and having a potential interest in business or finance. Two scholarships were awarded in each town, $1,000 to a graduating high school senior, and a $500 Coverdell Education Savings Account (CESA) to a graduating middle school student.
Continuing its dedication to the community, Spencer is steadfast in its support of higher education for young individuals. The Spencer Scholarship Program, introduced in 2002, has been met with an overwhelming response and recognizable success.

On July 9th, Spencer Savings Bank hosted a reception for the winning students and their families at its branch office in Elmwood Park. The students received their awards and were honored for their accomplishments.

School, Olga Fridman of Elizabeth High School, Ahlam Rashid of Memorial High School in Elmwood Park, Paola Torres of Garfield High School, Kevin Campbell of Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark, Manjinder Kaur of Lodi High School, Giovanni Gabriele of Lyndhurst High School, Christopher Coppola of West Essex High School in North Caldwell, Jenna Petrosino of Nutley High School, Schnidine Lormejuste of Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, Maria Arevalo of Saddle Brook High School, Peter Cheng of Union Senior High School and Abdul Rehman Hasan of Wallington High School.
Those awarded $500 CESA accounts include: Elizabeth Arias of Christopher Columbus Middle School in Clifton, Gillian Burke of Hillside Avenue School in Cranford, Elizabeth Edouard of Theodore Roosevelt Middle School in Elizabeth, Cindy Luna of Memorial Middle School in Elmwood Park, Joshua Law of Lincoln Middle School in Garwood, Mary Garah of Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Lodi, Gabriella DeMarco of Lincoln School in Lyndhurst, Nicholas Samra of West Essex Junior High School in North Caldwell, Hailey Aromando of John H.
