SPENCER SAVINGS BANK AND THE GARFIELD YMCA CO-SPONSOR "MOVIES UNDER THE STARS"
GARFIELD, NJ (July 21, 2009) – Spencer Savings Bank, headquartered in Elmwood Park, recently co-sponsored "Movies Under the Stars" at the Spring Street Field in Garfield. This is the first year that this event has taken place in Garfield. The feature film, which drew more than 350 people, was Mall Cop. Volunteers from both Spencer and the YMCA served refreshments, italian ices and freshly popped popcorn to the crowd. Overall, the event raised more than $600. All of the proceeds will benefit the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign.
Continuing its dedication to the community, Spencer is committed to its support of higher education for young individuals. The Spencer Scholarship Program, introduced in 2002, has awarded 185,000 since its inception.
"Being able to provide a friendly outdoor movie that helps to support a great cause is a rewarding experience," said Marzena Czachor, Garfield Branch Manager. "We look forward to partnering with the YMCA and presenting another movie night in the town of Garfield next year."
