Spencer Savings Bank, a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., brought the spirit of Thanksgiving to families in need by donating more than 1,000 pounds of food to four non-profit organizations across northern New Jersey.
During the week of Thanksgiving, Spencer employees visited the Community FoodBank of New Jersey in Hillside, the Center for Food Action in Saddle Brook, Crossroads Cultural Center in Clifton, and the Nutley Family Service Bureau. The donations were the sum of Spencer’s 10th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, held across 20 of the bank’s branch offices including its Elmwood Park headquarters throughout the month of November.
“The holidays are a time for giving, not just to loved ones, but to those in the community who might be struggling,” said José B. Guerrero, Chairman, President and CEO of Spencer Savings Bank. “Each year, our Thanksgiving Food Drive reminds us of how compassionate and generous our communities can be when everyone comes together for a common cause. More than the number of pounds of food collected, it is the number of people who showed their support that makes us truly proud to be a community bank.”
