Spencer Savings Bank, a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., recently partnered up with Eva’s Village to empower, mentor and prepare Eva’s Village clients for job success. The Paterson-based nonprofit works to break the cycle of poverty and addiction through a unique and integrated approach.
The volunteer-driven Workforce Development Program equips clients at Eva’s Village with the knowledge and tools necessary to successfully find a job. The program consists of one-on-one and group sessions, where volunteers work with clients and help them with a variety of job seeking tasks (completing job applications, writing resumes and cover letters, interviewing). A team of Spencer employees spent a morning with Eva’s clients conducting mock job interviews and providing feedback on their resumes.
“Eva’s Village is a wonderful nonprofit that really helps community members looking to change their lives around after experiencing some difficult times,” said Jose B.
